International Congress «D. Maria II, princess of Brazil, queen of Portugal: Art, Heritage and Identity»

In the year of the bicentennial of the birth of Dona Maria da Glória (1819-1853), a Brazilian-born princess who would become Queen of Portugal, ARTIS-IHA/FLUL and PPGAV-EBA/UFRJ organizes a congress that unites the two homelands of D. Maria II, "the Educator".

The 4th edition of the International Congress of the Late Gothic takes place this year in the city of Palermo, in a joint organization of ARTIS-IHA, the Universities of Palermo, Zaragoza and Cantabria, as well as the International Late Gothic Network.

II OPEN COURSE ON COLLECTING, COLLECTIONS AND COLLECTORS
from October 02 to November 20, 2019 | Amphitheater III | FLUL

Aimed at students, professionals of areas correlated to the addressed problematic and to whomever is interested, the second edition of this course intends, once again, to launch the debate on topics that allow the participants to understand the evolution of the collecting phenomenon; to familiarize themselves with public and private collections amassed and deconstructed within different contexts; and to contact with journeys and practices of collectors who marked and/or still mark the dynamics of the art market.

Please note that the sessions will be held in Portuguese.

II International Colloquium of Assistance Architecture: Hospitals and other healthcare buildings - from Modernity to the Modern era

The history of assistance, in general, and hospitals, in particular, is a multidisciplinary research topic that has gathered together different researchers addressing issues of social, religious, and scientific history. The history of architecture also has in these themes an important field of study that has been consolidated in recent years.

Taking the expressive title of the essay by Manuel Mendes Atanázio, Modern Art and Art of the Church, published 60 years ago and marking the 50th anniversary of the fulfillment of the Movement of Renewal of Religious Art, the Artis - Institute of Art History of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon promotes an open course for the general public on this important topic.
