GAMT, Group of Friends of the Monastery of São Martinho de Tibães, in Braga, ARTIS - Institute of Art History and the publisher Caleidoscópio invites you to the launch of ARTIS Journal n.º 7/8 - Rococo, on the next 4th of December, at 4 pm.

 

The presentation will be made by the journal's director, Vítor Serrão, and by the editors Eduardo Pires de Oliveira and Joaquim Rodrigues dos Santos.

On the afternoon of November 17th, ARTIS-IHA doctoral researcher Ana Mehnert Pascoal will participate in the International Conference "Disturbing Views. Visual Culture and Nationalisms in the 20th and 21st Centuries", with the presentation "Undiscussed heritage? Considerations on the mural paintings for the Noble Hall of the Palace of São Bento in Lisbon (1933-1947) and their present-day permanence".

 

The conference will take place between the 15th and 18th of November, entirely online and through the Zoom platform, and is organized by the South African Research Chair in South African Art and Visual Culture, at the University of Johannesburg.

In order to celebrate in 2021, the 500th anniversary of the death of D. Manuel I, it is essential to value the work of Duarte D'Armas portrayed in the Book of Fortresses, which recognizes the cross-border territory through its path that lasted several months between Caminha and Castro Marim. The numerous drawings in this work represent the cultural landscapes where the fortified urban centers prevail that express the evolution of military architecture and the appreciation of design at that time.

ARTIS researcher Sónia Duarte, within the scope of the World Music Day commemorations, will participate as a lecturer in the XXIII International Conference ?Sé de Évora Music School?, between 2 and 5 October.
