JOANNA LATKA | Galeria Monumental

On April 21st (Thursday), 6.pm, at the Galeria Monumental, Joanna Latka, a researcher at ARTIS-IHA, opens her exhibition "Sanatório Sob o Signo da Clepsydra", where she will present a series of new drawings, produced specifically for this show.

Joanna Latka (b. Krakow, 1978), is inspired, in this new series of drawings, by the stories of one of the most famous books by the Polish writer Bruno Schulz (Drohobych, 1892 - 1942), Sanatorium Under the Sign of Clepsydra. Stories located in an indeterminate place and time, in a surreal intersection of past and present, on the border between real and dream, which dialogue in a unique way with the power and expressive energy of Joanna Latka's imagination, in an artistic complicity of two adventurers who venture into territories where what Schulz called ?the dying, closed beauty of our museums? does not fit.

VANESSA ANTUNES, RESEARCHER AT ARTIS-IHA, AT IPCE!

IPCE - Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de España, welcomes researcher Vanessa Antunes, from ARTIS - Institute of Art History, who is at IPCE thanks to the ARCHLAB program. This programme, funded by the European project Iperion HS, offers transnational access to the collections and data of 14 European institutions of Heritage Sciences, including the IPCE.

Thanks to the data and samples collections that IPCE houses, Vanessa Antunes will be able to compare the materials and technical procedures used by Francisco de Zurbán in the paintings of the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Guadalupe, with those observed in the painting workshop of Baltazar Gomez Figueira and Josefa d'Óbidos in the Portuguese town of the same name.
ARCHLAB's research project called "ZAINTIBERIA" (Zurbarán sAints PAINtings and its Technical Influence Bearing Iberian Art), attempts to demonstrate Zurbarán's influence on the technique of the Óbidos School.

International Congress "The Woman, Mother and Queen. 375 years of the Coronation of Our Lady of Conception as the Patroness of Portugal"

On March 25, 1646, King D. João IV consecrated «His Kingdoms and Lords» to Our Lady of Conception, who was represented in a sculpture located in the Shrine of Our Lady of Conception in Vila Viçosa. By "Royal Provision", Our Lady was proclaimed the Patroness of Portugal and, from then on, the monarchs of the Bragança Dynasty would no longer use the royal crown on their heads.

To highlight this event, the Institute of the Patron of Portugal for the Studies of Mariology (PPSM) intends to organize a congress, entitled: "The Woman, Mother and Queen. 375 years of the Coronation of Our Lady of Conception as the Patroness of Portugal".

Four ARTIS-IHA researchers will participate: Vítor Serrão, Clara Moura Soares, Rute Massano Rodrigues and Carlos Filipe.
