The Expertise of Works of Art

This curricular unit aims to raise awareness for the fundamental and indispensable character of the expert of works of art; promote appreciation for the eminently practical nature of the expertise and evaluation and their impact on real-life; introduce the students to the problems of art expertise and appraisal - beginning with an overview of the Art Market where experts and evaluators are embedded; and to teach the theoretical concepts of «expert», «expertise», «expert report» and «assessment», highlighting their multidisciplinary character and focusing on the problem points of each of the concepts.
