In this curricular unit, we intend to analyze the different realities of contemporary museology.Science recently recognized as such,it traces renewed paths of affirmation and conceptual and methodological renewal, whose specificities must be scientifically understood. Throughout this seminar, we intend to trace the evolution of the concept of Museology as well as identify its main characteristics, areas of intervention and main issues.The discussion of the Museum's socially relevant role as a pole of cultural development and enjoyment is essential for the understanding of one of the most important motivating ways of modern Museology.  

 

Thus, the seminar will assume a scientific aspect of readability and interpretation of concepts without,however, neglecting the practical aspects related to the application of new ideas in concrete situations. Therefore, we will systematically resort to the confrontation of ideas with the reality of museological daily life, for this purpose by conducting study visits and multiplying contacts with professionals in the sector.
