Curricular Units
Mannerism and Baroque Art Studies
2nd Cycle
In this curricular unit, we study the general lines, meanings, problems, aesthetics and plastic achievements of artistic cultures of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, under the stimulus of late-Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque styles, both in the broader context of European art, as in the Portuguese circumstances. Following a necessarily multi-disciplinary approach, and with emphasis on contemporary theoretical and philosophical production, the emphasis is given to the analysis of artists, aesthetic movements and works that may constitute specific "case studies" of work.
