Medieval Art Studies

2nd Cycle

An in-depth theme of Western Medieval Art is analysed by focusing our attention on a particular European region and a well-defined chronological period. The approach to this theme is always made from a holistic perspective, in order to interrelate art, politics, religion, theology and social structures. By way of example, the subjects of this curricular unit may be the emergence of Gothic art in the Parisian region during the 12th century, civic art produced in 14th century Italian city-states or Iberian funeral art in the Black Death period.
