Decorative Arts Studies
Research in Decorative Arts has seen in recent years a remarkable increase, multiplying studies, whether monographic, monothematic or historical and artistic conjuncture. Such scientific production increasingly allows an overall view of an artistic phenomenon whose importance lies, in addition to the use of its own technical and stylistic language, precisely in the proximity that is generated between the artist and the commissioner, between the object and everyday life. This curricular unit promotes an approach to the decorative arts (applied or mobile) in the context of sacred and civil spaces, in a diachronic perspective that does not, however, abdicate synchrony. Specific national artistic manifestations will also deserve particular attention in the context of this unit.
