Summary:

"Mural Painting: the transmontana raia in the 16th century" identifies, describes and formally and technically characterizes 35 of the main centers of mural painting in northeastern Portugal. Spread over 4 municipalities - Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Alfândega da Fé and Torre de Moncorvo -, with formal and stylistic parallels in the Spanish "raia" the reader is taken to know the places, the techniques, the "workshops", the aesthetics , the symbology and imagery associated with this cultural, artistic, religious and popular phenomenon, so striking in the 16th-century "raia" of Trás-os-Montes, constituting today one of the greatest common cultural heritages between Portugal and Spain.
