'SOS AZULEJO 2019' AWARDS TO BE ASSIGNED IN 2020 - OPENING OF APPLICATIONS

Applications are now open for the 11th edition of the 'SOS AZULEJO AWARDS', whose delivery deadline is March 31, 2020 and whose REGULATIONS can be consulted here.
 
The SOS Azulejo Awards aim to:
  • Recognize, value, give visibility and promote actions to protect and enhance the Portuguese azulejo (tile) heritage and / or of Portuguese origin / tradition;
  • Contribute directly and indirectly to the certified safety, conservation and restoration, the study, enjoyment and adequate dissemination of Portuguese azulejo (tile) heritage and / or of Portuguese origin / tradition;
  • Strengthen and encourage the connection and pride of the populations and institutions in Portuguese territory for their azulejo (tile) heritage and / or, in other countries, for their azulejo (tile) heritage of Portuguese origin / tradition;
  • Encourage and support quality projects, studies and actions that take advantage of, value and boost the potential of Portuguese azulejo (tile) heritage.

The 'SOS Azulejo' Awards are aimed at a wide spectrum of sectors of activity and are intended to reward the best works, projects, studies, contributions, works and actions for the protection and enhancement of the  Portuguese azulejo (tile) heritage and / or of Portuguese origin / tradition, on an individual, institutional or collective basis, which took place until the end of 2019.
 
National and foreign individuals and / or organizations can apply.
 
The Partner Entities of the 'SOS Azulejo' Project have instituted Awards for the Protection and Enhancement of Portuguese Azulejos (tiles) Heritage (and / or of Portuguese origin / tradition) called 'SOS Azulejo Awards', which are given annually. The jury of the 'SOS Azulejo Awards' will, as usual, be chaired by Professor Vítor Serrão, Ph.D.. Also, as in previous years, the award ceremony will take place at the Palácio Fronteira, this time on May 18th.
 
The SOS AZULEJO PROJECT (www.sosazulejo.com) was initiated and is coordinated by the MUSEUM OF JUDICIAL POLICE / INSTITUTE OF JUDICIAL POLICE AND CRIMINAL SCIENCES, with the following Partnerships:
  • Associação Nacional de Municípios Portugueses (ANMP);
  • Direção Geral do Património Cultural (DGPC);
  • Rede de Investigação em Azulejo (RIA), Instituto de História de Arte (IHA) da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (FLUL);
  • Universidade de Aveiro (UA);
  • Instituto Politécnico de Tomar (IPT);
  • Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR);
  • Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP).
