AzLab#85 | MORE THAN TALAVERA: THE HISTORY AND ACCOUNT OF SOME (OR MANY) CHALLENGES FOR THE CONSERVATION OF THE MEXICAN TILE
May 17th, 2023 | via Zoom [session to be held in Spanish] | 18.00 [Lisbon Time Zone - UTC+1]
pub: 5 May, 2023

In May the AzLab will travel to Mexico to meet Renata Schneider, a restorer at the National Institute for Anthropology and History.

She will start by describing the context, the physical features and the use of tiles in Mexico in the last five centuries, a topic on which she has worked extensively. Furthermore, she will discuss the problems that are currently faced by conservators and restorers in Mexico, given the absence of a specific approach - both academic and technical - to the research and preservation of ceramic coverings.

Invited speaker:
Renata Schneider [Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia | México]

Registration via Google forms or by e-mail. Once the session is scheduled, each participant will receive the link and a password.

Note: this session will be recorded and partially made available on the YouTube channel of the Azulejo Research Network.
