Rute Massano Rodrigues
Rute Massano Rodrigues holds a PhD in History, in the subfield of Art, Heritage and Restoration, from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, where she also completed a degree in History, variant of Art History, and a master's degree in Art, Heritage and Restoration Theory.
In her doctoral dissertation, entitled Between preservation and destruction: the extinction of the religious orders in Portugal and its consequences for the convents' artistic heritage (1834-1868), she deepened the work developed as a research fellow of the project Eneias -The painting collection of the Portuguese National Library: from the protection of conventual artistic heritage during the Liberal Revolution to an integrated study of conservation and dissemination (PTDC/HIS-HEC/113226/2009).
Among other activities, she has collaborated since 2017 with ARTIS and CECHAP, the Centre for Studies in Culture, History, Arts and Heritage, in the project PHIM - Heritage and History of the Marble Industry.
Her research is focused on the 19th and 20th centuries, with a special emphasis on the changes introduced by the Liberal Regime and the First Republic in the national artistic heritage, the policies and practices for preservation, conservation and restoration or the use of ornamental stones in architecture and sculpture, among other topics. She has authored and co-authored different articles and book chapters.
