Jayasinghe Arachchige Sunanda Sagara Jayasinghe


Sagara is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Moratuwa and a Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects.Also, he serves as the Honorary Secretary to ICOMOS Sri Lanka and an Expert Member of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Places of Religion and Ritual.
As a practising architect and a researcher, Sagara has won many distinctions and honours, including the Young Architect of the Year Award in 2009, the Architectural Publication Award thrice in 2008, 2013 and 2021 and the Architectural Research Award in 2017.
Sagara has disseminated his discoveries on transcultural heritage through several books, conference papers, public lectures, journal articles and exhibitions.He was the principal investigator of the "Oratorians in Ceylon" research project initiated by the ARTIS Institute with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at ARTIS Institute under a scholarship of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
