Vasco Medeiros


Vasco Medeiros, PhD. Professor at the Institute of Portuguese Culture and Language of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon [ICLP-FLUL], integrated researcher at the Institute of Art History of the same university [Artis-IHA-FLUL], member of the ARS and National Academic Correspondent at the Lisbon Academy of Fine Arts. He holds a PhD in Art History from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, with the thesis Pictorial Science in Europe: 1430-1530 - Iconopoiesis and Teaching, Convergence and Singularity, and was responsible for the creation and development of the R&D project PEX - ARTIFEX: ARS CARTOGRAPHICA, financed by the FCT under the reference EXPL/ART-HIS/0785/2021. The project aims to identify and analyse the partnerships established between painters and cartographers in the 15th and 16th centuries. He is also the author of the podcast ARTifex, focused on the history of art and science, and promotes field trips dedicated to the study and teaching of art history.
